WALLETS, SETUP GUIDES & SNAPSHOTS
Just a reminder for the community and also for any new members, we have added a Wallet Setup Guides page, which takes any first time user of Mousecoin step-by-step through the process of installing their Mousecoin wallet and getting it online. The guide uses the latest blockchain snapshot found on the Wallet Downloads Page in the example explanation meaning that all new members of the Mousecoin community will be able to get their wallets online faster as the sync time should be minimal. We will be updating the blockchain snapshot at least once every month to ensure that people have access to the most up to date blockchain info. The latest blockchain snapshot was performed on the 1st June 2020.
The wallet version is currenty V1.0.0.0, with future releases of the Mousecoin wallet coming soon
If you are new to crypto currency or just after a bit of guidance setting up the Mousecoin wallet, check out our Wallet Setup Guides

POS & STAKING
In the last month we asked the community if they would be interested in being a part of a Community Staking Pool. After investigations into this finding security flaws in most platforms, as well as the lack of interest from members of the community we have decided to not go ahead with the Community Staking Pool. While we understand that there are members of the Mousecoin Community that are unable to stake themselves for whatever reason, and that there are a number of staking platforms that offer pool staking for MIC3 to help these people stake, we will not officially be supporting any staking platforms. We ask all Community members using these or thinking about using these to keep in mind that any MIC3 hosted on these platforms is not in their wallets, and therefore not controlled by them. Do proper investigations into any platform that you use for this as there is always the possibility of loss. We encourage all members of the Mousecoin Community to stake from their own wallet (where possible) as this helps us to secure the network. If you need help setting up your wallet, go to our Wallet Setup Guides page for step-by-step guides on setting up your Mousecoin wallet.
MOUSECOIN FAUCETS
We have updated the Mousecoin (MIC3) Faucets Page:
To make things clearer and we will be adding more faucets soon!
EXCHANGES
Last month we saw the edition of the USDT/MIC3 pair to nanu exchange. In our efforts to increase exposure of Mousecoin, we are still attempting to list on both ATAIX and Unnamed.Exhchange.
ATAIX We have risen to 18th position in the voting list on ATAIX, but we still need your votes. Remember you can vote every 24 hours for this listing, and you can share in 125,000,000 MIC3
📷
Unnamed.Exhchange The exchange listing for Unnamed.Exhchange is 0.05 BTC. For anyone unfamiliar with the exchange there are two ways that you can donate to the listing:
1. If you are already a member of, or wish to be a member of Unnamed.Exhchange (and why wouldn’t you), you can put funds towards our listing by tipping us through the trollbox (Mousecoins). If you wish to be a member of Unnamed.Exhchange, you can register here: https://www.unnamed.exchange/Login/Register
2. You can also donate to the listing fee through the following addresses: BTC – bc1qmaqzhfqcw0urva0rtgfz5qvq4rw7kdnp6j7754 LTC – ltc1qc775eeftdde2jrevnyukrd2w9853jy5gmtv6rn DOGE – DEnBpriaFnKiNeBv6Q7MVxMg5hLv5urQFg UTIP – AUTyu2JhGAaCkM3KAmeBopto2bNBchNJfE
If you would like to donate in another crypto available on Unnamed.Exhchange, we have opened up the chat on the Discord channel HERE to assist with this. Please request the address and we will provide it for you. ANY AND ALL DONATIONS ARE WELCOME!! This is a good exchange and getting a listing her should help lift the profile of MIC3.
We will be reporting balances to the discord channel https://discord.gg/cYuA8FA
COMMUNITY FUND
📷
In the last month the Community Fund has undergone a huge amount of change. We have completely moved all of our remaining balances away from 4Stake, with the MIC3 going to the Community Fund MIC3 account and the remaining crypto’s towards out listing on Unnamed.Exhchange. The Community Fund page on the website has also been updated to reflect all of the changes. It is an exciting time for the Community Fund as we have now reached a balance that will sustain itself. This is why we have introduced the Community Member payment, and are able to sustain the faucets we have on https://erex.io/freecoin/ and in the Phoneum Games. There is still more to come!

Here is why dogecoin is not a joke:

Any objections? ok. Now, what other reasons why dogecoin is not a joke?
all new valid reasons get some iteration of base-69 doge so this is a mini-contest and references itself so is still slightly absurd.

HackNRack RPG October Harvest Tournament - $250+ in Prizes (GiftCards/PayPal/Bitcoin) - w/ up to 30 Place Winners!

HackNRack.com is a Free-To-Play, "Hacker" Simulation, MMO-RPG Browser Game, where you "hack" other players for in-game currency, which can be cashed out for Gift Cards, Paypal, or Bitcoin.
The game is pretty simple to play, as it is just a point-and-click game, works off of a basic "Offense vs Defense" system, and it still has a pretty small user base; I think 200 users at the time of this post, but only like 10 of them actively play. So their is still plenty of room to grow.
The website/game was launched back in June, hosted a pretty successful Tournament on July 4th, and has seen several updates over the past few months, with even some talk of adding "Player Items and Gear", a "Crafting System and Player Market", and even some pretty intense "Clan Wars"; so I do see it gaining some real potential here soon.
The revenue generated to pay players with comes from several sources and not just mere ad revenue, as there are 3 functioning "Offerwalls", as well as a completely integrated Referral commission system in place behind a large list of external Bitcoin Faucets (as well as Faucets for 8 other crypto-currencies) in which players can claim from, in exchange for in-game points in HackNRack. This creates quick, accessible funds for the website to pay players with.
Some of you remember the last Tournament back in July, which turned out to be a blast! So I thought I would share the next upcoming Tournament: The "October Hackers Harvest Festival"!
Starting Oct 7th and ending Oct 14th at Midnight, Players will compete for the Top 30 Prizes by earning the most in-game points from a "Dispenser", "Mini-Drip", and a "Crypto" menu on the website!
-The "Dispenser" works like a Bitcoin faucet, dispensing in-game points at set intervals of time. -The "Mini-Drip" links work more like a Pay-2-Click site, where you click a link, view an ad for 15 seconds, then leave and get rewarded. -The "Crypto" menu works like a Bitcoin Faucet List, only you get in-game points for the commissions you generate when using this list. *During this next Tournament, the points from Cryptos will also be rewarding DOUBLE in TOURNAMENT points, so be sure to remember that!
***Prizes are as follows: 1st Place = $100 in PayPal, Amazon GiftCard, Bitcoin, or In-Game Pts! - (Player choice) 2nd Place = $50 in PayPal, Amazon GiftCard, Bitcoin, or In-Game Pts! - (Player choice) 3rd Place = $25 in PayPal, Amazon GiftCard, Bitcoin, or In-Game Pts! - (Player choice) 4th Place = $15 in PayPal, Amazon GiftCard, Bitcoin, or In-Game Pts! - (Player choice) 5th Place = $10 in PayPal, Amazon GiftCard, Bitcoin, or In-Game Pts! - (Player choice) 6th Place = $5 in In-Game Pts! 7th Place = $4 in In-Game Pts! 8th Place = $3 in In-Game Pts! 9th Place = $2 in In-Game Pts! 10th Place = $1 in In-Game Pts! 11th - 30th Places = will each receive different percentages of the Crypto-Pot! (See details on the website)
So if any of this sounds interesting to you, come check it out @ HackNRack.com What do you got to lose?

A History of Actinium (Written by Harris Brakmić, aka brakmic)
I think I should write a few words about the project, it's beginnings, the whole idea and how it came to existence. I really want this project to succeed and I am ready to do anything & everything to make it a success. Will write a stream of consciousness.... let's begin...
It was a few weeks ago when I decided to leave my last crypto project. The decision had nothing to do with this project as at this time I wasn't even sure if I am going to stay in crypto at all. Also, the people from the former project were really nice to me (good, professional colleagues) So, it had nothing to do with this project, but it was important because without me departing it, Actinium wouldn't be here. So, one thing relates to other, (in)directly. However, a few days after my departure became "public" (I've silently left the project to avoid any negative spikes in the markets).
This was due to my role there. My part was the development of their latest security feature (again, not important for this project, but indirectly it makes clear that I came from "somewhere" without a big bang) So, after it became public a few guys who also had been members of this project but have left some time earlier (and they were also developing another coin in secret as I would later find out) approached me. It was just a friendly talk, like: "hey bro, you left the project", "what happened" so we talked and talked and then they offered me to join their project which was (and I think mostly still is) and unfinished idea, some kind of Bitcoin but with Equihash.
They explained it to me that they wanted to keep ASICS out because of "centralization". However, I found this idea bad from different angles. first, Bitcoin's code is state of the art. If you are going to change Bitcoin, well, either you are really good (I AM NOT!) or you are an impostor. or simply batshit crazy.
However, the other developer in the team wanted to change the code this way. Other guys were not developers but simply GPU-miners...well, you understand now why "Equihash". So, we agreed that I will wait for the other coding colleague to finish his work. And it took some time, a few weeks or so. and he still wasn't even able to boot the system, to create a genesis block. And you surely know that we, coders, are people who HATE to sit around and doing nothing.
So I started in parallel a shitcoin and now comes the interesting part... When I came to this team, I advertised the idea to build a coin with a strong focus on the future, ... payment channels, instant payments, off-chain solutions, the Lightning Network however, my ideas were, well, not very "welcome". The other colleague dismissed them, and the other guys who were not coders, didn't follow my idea and as I already said, I had to wait for the colleague to create a genesis block (and also to import the Equihash algorithm from Bitcoin Gold into Bitcoin...how gruesome!)
Actually, the idea with Bitcoin Gold was mine, because he wasn't sure where he could get Equihash from so I sad, half as a joke, hey take Bitcoin Gold, this is a cool scamcoin well, I should have kept my mouth shut! anyway...I remained in this group, patiently waiting and also developing my shitcoin they even created a separate channel called "SHT Talk" where I could present this coin (and not spam their other channels lol) and then, when everything was set up I wanted to mine blocks... but I didn't want to be only miner I am a coder, not a miner and maybe this is a shitcoin, but it should be mined honestly so, I had to beg those people to sacrifice one or two of their many GPUs to mine a worthless coin... it took me a few days to bring them to let some of the cards run...and I understand that...they do this for a living and I am only some random coder with a shitcoin project I don't think I'd behave differently however, after some time they started to mine this (still worthless) coin and being a true coin I decided to make the ANN on Buttcoin if there is a community where you SHOULD NOT announce a coin then I think Buttcoin would be the 1st place so, I wrote a proper announcement, posted it there.... and them people started writing: hey, it's like DOGE.
This is the moment when I realized that people give value to everything even if you decide to create a shitcoin, name it shitcoin, and announce it on Buttcoin, people will still be more powerful than you and think otherwise it doesn't mater what I think the only thing that matters is the community! so, after a few hours of upvoting, the Buttcoin admins realized that there is "something going on" and removed my post from the top this happens when certain people think they're more powerful than many people centralization! well, I decided to keep this coin alive... I was begging my former colleagues even more to use their GPUs but it was of course really hard to persuade them also, some problems inside the team came to the surface the other colleague had some problems with the code, also some personal issues I think...
I don't know the exact details I was mostly a "guest" there, actually had no real influence at one point their "manager" offered me to take over their project, because they were not very happy with the current progress but I refused, because backstabbing is a shitty behavior it didn't matter to me that the coding colleague never liked me personally, but I'd never take his position I decided to play with (at this time) Shitcoin DeLuxe so, I setup a mining pool (first time in my life) a small explorer bought some servers (currently we have 8 servers for everything...mining, explorer, faucet, basic nodes etc.) and then, at some point in time...I think maybe 10 days ago or so... the guys from the other project asked me to come to the chat... also the coding colleague was there... and he still had problems to create a Genesis Block however, he was full of plans what I have to do in future... like: you should write test, setup testing servers etc.
Basically, the housekeeping work well, nothing against testing, as I really like to test my code... but, if you are unable to bootstrap a blockchain, then there isn't much to be tested :sweat_smile: I said it this way, directly into the crowd and then they went silent I am really for friendship, tolerance, respect but if I bite you, you can be sure I will do it so fiercely that you will remember me I also announced that I will rather keep the Shitcoin DeLuxe alive than do housekeeping for a project that still doesn't exist as a real blockchain.
I may have only created a Shitcoin, but there is at least a chain, some miners, some servers, and I am a coder who writes actual code well, after a day or so my access to their chat was revoked... without any information just like that ....soooo....this is it.... what else should I say.... look, dear people... I am mostly working from home...only on Wednesdays I am in the company I get every day a few "remote work" offers... I could take them, my boss wouldn't even notice... such offers usually pay 80-100$/hour I am a professional coder, I do this for a living...
If I wanted money I would really not need blockchain, or Shitcoin DeLuxe please, don't take me wrong... blockchains can generate lots of money And I applaud every miner, investor, and user who manages to get rich out of this or any other coin but you are NOT coders it's YOUR business not mine we, coders, have OUR ways of getting "enough" money for us just like lawyers, scientists, or any other people do if I want more money I simply answer to some of those pesky head hunters... "give me 100/$ hour, keep your mouth shut, will deliver webpage in 3 weeks, here my bank account" this is the coder's way of getting money. I don't have to premine coins, fool people I could have stayed with the other project easily but I didn't want to be there I felt responsibility towards the people here money is important, but we are not only our damn money I think we are more, so, ok, I think I have talked long enough.
I hope I could clarify some things about this coin, how it came into existence, what my motives were.

Of Wolves and Weasels - Day 33 - A Fun Way Forward

Hey all, GoodShibe here!
It started out simple enough. I'd first heard about Burger Bear here on the sub in this thread. It turned out that they were one of a few restaurants that seemed actively interested in accepting Dogecoin. It seemed like a really cool idea so I casually put forward an offer:
If anyone wanted a burger there, let me know and I'll buy them one.
And while that offer was still hanging in the air, I thought 'hey, why not do a solid for some hungry person in London?' So I hopped on twitter and sent 8K DOGE (the cost of a burger there) to @BurgerBearTom just to give to some random person.
As it turns out, my earlier offer had also been accepted, by elemesh. It was too late in the day to grab one, but I left the offer open, if he wanted one, just send me a PM anytime and we'd work it out.
Soelemesh did. At 6am EST the next day.
See, I'm not in London. I'm on a whole other continent.
And I'd just woken up. In fact, I was just starting to prep my Of Wolves and Weasels post for the day when I saw it - a casual PM about how I probably wasn't going to be awake anyway but if I was, he was going to be heading out for lunch in a couple of hours and figured he might as well head up that way. Well, since I was up, I shot back a PM... and that turned out into a whole flurry of PMs as he made his way there and got on site and such.
Again, I tipped the money to @BurgerBeartom via @tipdoge on Twitter. I thought it would just be a bit of a laugh, but the whole process - even though I'm a whole continent away - it turned out be an incredibly easy, really fun and, frankly, satisfying experience.
Needless to say, my laugh turned into a 'hmmm' after elemesh posted this thread.
And then felloutboy who'd also, apparently, stopped by there and had one, shared these:
http://imgur.com/a/HKbtp
And then he sent me this:
http://imgur.com/2TG7IUK
It was actually a really inspiring moment - so, thank you for that felloutboy!
I realized I still had a small chunk of change kicking around from moolah_'s and allthegoodunsaregone's massive tips/donations a while back. So I thought: I wonder if I put up for offer 10 free burgers at BurgerBear, paid for with Dogecoins, would there be any takers?
So I launched this thread.
And then realized, sadly, that by the time I'd had this little brainwave of mine, things were starting to close up proper over in the UK. Blarg.
Yesterday morning at 6am I got up extra early and put up this thread and cross-posted it to /London.
I wanted to know if it was possible, so I set aside 80,000 DOGE, had it ready to rip and went to see if anyone would take me up on the offer.
In the end, 7 out of the 10 burgers were claimed:
mitosan
shamess
imjustjoshing (and friends)
gargoylenz
Adjam
And it was a great deal of fun, coordinating with each of them as they made their way to BurgerBear - Adjam had trekked there from the other side of London to get his - and getting them all to the pub (@TheOldNunsHead) where - as it turns out - @BurgerBearTom was hosting his birthday bash.
It also turned out, as adjam later pointed out to me, to be Ðoge Day (02/08)!
In fact, if there's one theme to the whole day, it's that 'the timing ended up working out really well'.
Because there also ended up being a bit of a Dogecoin mini-meetup, as two groups actually got together and snapped this:
http://imgur.com/aJbVoyI
And This:
http://i.imgur.com/ELOBuBa.jpg
Inspired by how this was all playing out so well, I hopped on twitter and spread the news
Immediately, @Adult and @PeterOdeus chimed in on the conversation. Next thing I know, retweets and favorites are flying, lots of general cheer and merriment -- and then @Adult asked if they could kick in some Doge to help feed the locals.
Well, @BurgerBearTom posted his donation address
And then... yeah.
Donations
Donations everywhere
Which caught Tom a bit by surprise
Over 200K tipped!
Pics from what came next:
Mmmm!
Looks like
They had
Some fun!
And on his Birthday Bash, no less. I'm sure it was going to be a busy night... I like to think that maybe we helped push it over the top... a bit.
By the end of the night, outside of the 56k DOGE sent his way from the morning, he'd gotten another 250,000+ in random DOGE tips.
Tom seemed pleased
The funny thing about this is that I'd been wracking my skull trying to find ways to reach out - to get Dogecoin outside of this sub, how to make real connections with people.
It's food.
Good Food
Good food, great times, merriment - showing folks that this crazy, silly 'internet money' can turn into hot, delicious food -- or, as gargoylenz discovered, a tall frosty pint of beer -- before your very eyes.
Sharing in the merriment, creating memories together -- that's the next step. That's how we move Dogecoin forward - little by little. Winning hearts and minds as we go.
I now know what my next goal is and, I think you're all going to like it.
You see, I had a bit of a conversation with Tom - how he'd gotten into Bitcoin as sort of a marketing thing, to see if he couldn't drum up some more business. It worked, but he wasn't getting all that much. But DOGE... Doge had been, so far, a huge success. People were showing up and they were buying. And they were enthusiastic.
Now, if that doesn't describe my fellow Shibes, I don't know what will.
So, now that I'm all sorts of inspired by this whole thing, here's what I want to do:
I want to find more restaurants that will accept Dogecoin and give them our business.
I want restaurant owners to see that if they support us, we'll support them.
Get them to take a chance on us and have it pay off in a big way.
I don't have a TON of DOGE left, but here's what I'm going to do - we can think of this sort of like a DOGE FOOD faucet.
I've created /DogeFood
Right now, I have... 150,000 DOGE left.
If you can find a restaurant in your area that will let you pay in DOGE, I will buy you something to eat.
Much of this is going on the honor system - I'll try to vet everyone, but I'm trusting you all.
The rules are as follows:
  1. Set it up with me BEFORE you go. If you just show up with a bill and expect to have it paid, it will not happen.
  2. Put me in touch with the owner of said restaurant (website, twitter, etc).

This is a free finacial markets price-prediction game. Collect enough points by the end of the week and earn real money. If you have no idea about financial markets. don't worry, the idea is that you learn while you play. Many people at the top of the leaderboards started with zero experience.
Big Time Games / non ref
This is a selection of mini games, you play them and earn tickets to the weekly draw (usually more then $1000). More tickets = better chance of winning. If you enter my ref code JRFRY you get 2500 tickets in the current weeks draw. The bad thing is that it's not guaranteed that you will win, the good thing is that the games are fun to play.
Lucky Day
Every 24 hours, you will get 3 credits to use on the app. You can play scratch, slots, lotto, and blackjack (when you reach level 3). According to other users (I've been playing with this for only a couple of days) this app is legit, but you earn very slowly. Minimum cashout is $10. Use my code and get 5 free credits PN8LOIG. EDIT: I played the sh*t out of this, and I won nothing! not one dollar! I played slots over 1000 times! (200 tokens X 5 tries each) and the result is zero!
Bitplay Today games
I have been playing these games for a while, and I have cashed out 3 times (proof). You only need to create one acount and you can log in with the same account to all 4 games. Compared to bitcoin faucets, you can earn bitcoins faster and have fun at the same time! I play them on my phone, but you can try Bluestacks if you want, You can't find these games on Google Play, you need to download the apk files on your device (full instructions given).
Please add any similar games I've missed I'm happy to use your ref codes :)

Im thinking about giving in-depth 1 on 1 in person lessons about bitcoin. Do you think that anyone would pay to learn these things?

I've fallen down the Bitcoin rabbit hole almost a year ago now, and i've learned so much that I feel I could now teach someone else in a week or two how to do what i've figured out in a year. I think some people would be willing to pay for that kind of training, but I want your opinion. Is it a waste of time? I'd offer the lessons free in my spare time if it was, but I could do it full time if I could pay my bills doing it. Here is a random list of ideas I had to teach, aside from knowledge about how bitcoin itself works, its uses, blockchain tech, etc:
How to get bitcoin without buying it:
How to put their bitcoin to use to make more bitcoin, if they dont want to just hold it and dont mind taking various levels of risk via:
Could I charge for this if I had a solid lesson plan to teach the average person this in a few days or weeks? I know most people just care about knowing how to use it, but others do want to learn as much as they can, as fast as they can. This is just a basic list that I brainstormed over 30 minutes, I know there is much much more ive learned that I could teach as well. I cant imagine being able to get paid to teach people about bitcoin, as I already do that for free and enjoy it, and seem to be getting pretty good. Not Antonopoulos level good or anything, but good.

Testing new bitcoin wallet

So today, I've been dabbling in bitcoin for the first time since 2012. I've noticed that a lot has changed over the past few years, e.g., if you use something like MultiBit (which I just did), you no longer have to download the entire block chain (which is nice!).
I'd like to try out my new MultiBit wallet, but another slight change in the world of bitcoin is that there are no longer any faucets that instantly dispense infinitesimal amounts of bitcoin. They all have minimum payouts, and so would require a significant waiting period--and a fair bit of effort--before I actually saw any Satoshis appear in my wallet.
So I guess what I'm asking is this: Would any one be willing to send me a teeny-tiny amount of BTC, just so I can verify that my wallet is functioning properly? NOTE: I realize that, ideally, you'd get something in return for your mini-payment. So: If anyone is willing to do this, I will share a bitcoin-themed poem that I wrote.
ALSO: I'd like to buy about $75 worth of bitcoin, and I was hoping that it could be in my wallet by tomorrow at noon EST. Is this kind of speed possible? If so, how?

10-07 18:22 - 'HackNRack RPG October Harvest Tournament - $250+ in Prizes (GiftCards/PayPal/Bitcoin) - w/ up to 30 Place Winners!' (self.Bitcoin) by /u/Rakyta711 removed from /r/Bitcoin within 1380-1390min

'''
The Bitcoin Support System

In the spirit of creating original content for this sub, I thought I'd do a post about some overlooked aspects of the bitcoin ecosystem that supports the bitcoin price.
Faucets
The original faucet was of course created by Gavin Andreson in 2010 to give people a little share of bitcoin and spread the idea around. His faucet was a simple dispensing page. However people took his idea and created a mini-industry funded by advertising.
The reason I've mentioned faucets as part of the bitcoin support system is that they convert fiat into bitcoin. That is, they earn fiat from advertising (usually Google Adsense) and spend a portion of this money on actually buying bitcoin and dispensing it from their faucet.
The following article follows someone who set up a faucet from scratch and how he made some profits out of it:
https://99bitcoins.com/complete-beginners-guide-make-money-bitcoin-faucet/
His faucet was dispensing some $225 a month in bitcoins.
Faucetbox lists a stagerring 743 bitcoin fauctes:
https://faucetbox.com/en/list
Even if each dispensed a conservative average of $100 worth of coins a month, that amounts to $74300 a month converted from fiat to bitcoin or $891000 per annum. Some faucets dispense much more of course - the big faucets like moonbitco.in dispense several thousand dollars worth of coins each month.
Note that if a competitor to bitcoin was to emerge, we'd see them first in the faucet space because a) popular coins tend to have users eagerly trying to collect the coins creating demand and b) faucets catering to those users are converting fiat into those particular alts, supporting their price. Faucetbox has 148 litecoin faucets, 248 dogecoin faucets, 41 peercoin faucets, 18 primecoin faucets, and 63 Dark faucets. The much ballyhooed ethereum is absent...
Scrypt Pools
Scrypt pools mine scrypt based proof-of-work alts and then sell those alts to buy bitcoin to pay their miners. In the process they convert potential competitors to bitcoin into a giant support system for bitcoin.
However, if scyypt pools opt to pay out in other coins, then they become a support system for that alternative coin. Prohashing gave an interview to Forbes where they report:
Changes in behaviors by Prohashing’s miners also indicate that they recognize problems with the Bitcoin network. Every time there’s a problem with congestion, he says more of its miners choose to be paid in a competing currency
Here's the Prohashing payout chart:
https://prohashing.com/help.html?topic=charts-payoutsowed
About 70% of their miners are still opting to be paid in BTC. The others are opting for Litecoin, Ehereum, Dash, Digitalcoin and others.
A similar pattern can be seen from the scrypt pool "Xpool". Of their top 20 hashers, 14 are opting to be paid in alts (Dash, Bitcoindark, NXY and Litecoin). See
http://www.bitcoindark.ca/leaderboard
The scrypt pools arn't as big a support system as the faucets - but between them and the faucets they produce a steady regular monthly support for bitcoin and act as demand for the new coins being generated by the miners.
If this support disappeared or switched to another cryotocurrency, BTC would have to rely purely on speculators to supply demand for the coin.

Could SchoolDoge work?

While out running some errands this afternoon, I dropped by the local primary school and had a chat with the principal, before the kids go back next week.
What I put to him was an idea for a little dogecoin experiment. He hadn’t heard of Dogecoin, so I gave him a quickie rundown, covering our relationship to Bitcoin (which he had heard of), our community, achievements and attitudes, plus a little economics. At the very least I piqued his interest into doing a little reasearch. ;)
The idea I’ve been mulling over is to give every child a wallet, and fill it with coins, funded by a fundraiser. Right away we decided this was not going to work for 540 kids, so a subset would be in order, perhaps the older ones only.
Given some coins, they could work a little economics into the curriculum, and if the kids were able to buy stuff from the canteen with their coins, that would close the loop, and give them an incentive to find ways to earn more. Sort of a mini-economy.
My starting point for this idea was a school in India where the kids worked out they could score 25¢ a day or so in Bitcoin from faucets, enough to buy sandwiches and hamburgers with. Bitcoin faucets were literally feeding children, though advertisers would not be happy with this news.
Why did I pick this school? Because I feel that this is a concept that could scale really well, and be implemented across the developing world, in places where a dollar is a lot of money. We need that desperately, because we currently have the sorry combination of very poor shibes in very expensive economies, where our coins are pretty worthless. Dogecoin’s ideal market has always been the poor nations, but its hard to build out the infrastructure we need to make it happen. By running a test locally, I figured we could find the bugs in the idea and iron them out (without needing to fly half way around the world), then move on and replicate the model elsewhere.
Sadly, while quite keen, he pointed out that as a Government Primary school in a conservative area with a difficult school council, he would be unable to make this fly, at least at this point in time. He recommended seeking out secondary schools, particularly private ones, which are under fewer constraints. I’ll make some enquiries about this and report back if I can get any interest.
But perhaps some of you might be able to make something like this work in your local areas. We really only need one or two test cases to deal with questions like how to get the wallets to the kids, how to give them access to their coins, how to fund it and how to provide an income stream. Quite apart from the question of what they can spend their coins on, preferably within the school ecosystem.
Anyone want to pick up this ball and run with it? :)

**Update From The Einsteinium Dev Team**

VOTE FOR EINSTEINIUM ON CRYPTSY.COM Yes that's right - Cryptsy now also have voting We strongly feel that being listed on both http://coinmarketcap.com/ and http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency would be hugely beneficial in getting the word out about Einsteinium to the wider alt community to do this we need to be listed on a major exchange - Cryptsy is one of those exchanges! About the Einsteinium Foundation
The Einsteinium Foundation was created to help, in any small way it can, raise funding for cutting edge scientific research. To this aim we created Einsteinium, a new cryptocurrency (similar to Bitcoin), to gather funds that can be distributed to projects the community chooses. Combined with donations from the community at large we will help fund some of the most innovative projects currently under-way or help seed those waiting to start.
The Goals
The principle task of the Foundation will be organize the selection and distribution of the Einsteinium Fund that is collected each month from the community mining the Coin and direct donations the Fund.
Each month a small selection of projects we the Foundation think are worthy of support will be collated together with suggestions from you the community. Voting will be held during the last few days of each month, the winner of the poll is selected and the funds passed over.
There will be no restrictions as to who is eligible for inclusion in the monthly selection for voting, the only criteria is that the science involved is pushing our understanding forward and could build us a better, safer and more interesting future.
From simple Kickstarter project to the Gates Foundations effort against Malaria, if between the Einsteinium community and the Foundation we reach consensus that the project is worthy we will send the funds.
Details and Special Rewards When a Wormhole is good for you.
Epochs The mining of Einsteinium is divided into Epochs, each Epoch is 36000 blocks long and is targeted to last 25 days. The Proof of Work mining of Einsteinium will last 730 Epochs.
Wormhole Events: During every Epoch from the start of mining through to Year 10 a random Wormhole Event will occur. A Wormhole Event is 180 blocks long with a reward of 2970 Einsteinium per block. This is a fixed value reward irrespective of the current block reward and replaces the standard reward for that block. A Wormhole Event is randomly generated and can start at any time during an Epoch, but will ALWAYS be 180 blocks long.
Continued appeal
As we move past 25th Epoch the Wormhole Events, in conjunction with the rising value of Einsteinium, will be a substantial incentive for smaller miners to continue mining. With a reward of hundreds of times the standard block value up for grabs you won’t want to miss a Wormhole Event
And Remember! With every block mined we are funding the future!

Block 1 Block 1 is a little larger than the rest of the blocks from Epoch 1 & 2 at 10747. this is to eliminate the need for pesky decimal points in the Wormhole Event blocks. We were really geeky and set the total number of Einsteinium to be equal to the speed of light in m/sec (in a vacuum!). Unfortunately that particular universal constant didn't play along when we divided it down so, mildly OCD that we are, we preferred a Wormhole block to be 2973 instead of 2973.4blahblahblahblahblah!. To be honest my OCD wanted to plump with 2970, but that would have made block 1 WAY to big.
Bounties None currently
Press & News Articles http://coinappeal.com/einsteinium-coin-for-science/
...and Finally Einsteinium is a cryptocurrency aimed at supporting and funding scientific research, all the automatic donations will be distributed to mutually agreed upon projects and the very small 0.5% gathered for faucets and give-aways won't be spent buying onto exchanges or paying out spurious bounties. Every single ECM2 we spend or give away will be very carefully considered, it will be used to spread the word and build the community, it won't be frittered away on bribes or on something we can do ourselves. And don't worry, if we build this community together and make it strong we WILL get listed on the exchanges!
The Einsteinium Launch Team are listening and active on this thread, if you have ANY questions please ask. Please be as courteous as you can to your fellow community members and to us, the Einsteinium team. Please be aware that the majority of the team are located in the UK (GMT+0) so responses to your questions may be slower between 1am & 6am GMT - we have to sleep sometime!
~~~~ The Latest Einsteinium Team Update ~~~~ 4th March 2014 - 10pm GMT
We have just turned 3 days old! Time to burp us and change the nappy
That’s right Einsteinium is JUST 3 days old, and yet we already find ourselves listed on 2 exchanges, a third, www.Lazycoins.com, will be listing EMC2 from the outset. We have twelve pools, two faucets which we, and you the community, are keeping stocked, plus a block explorer. As I write this the network is at 1.33GH/s there have been 5626 blocks mined totalling 5,761,024 EMC2 in circulation.
EMC2 is bouncing between 400 and 1400 sat on the exchanges, even if the volume is low, which considering the turmoil the alt markets have been seeing over the past few weeks we see as a major achievement. But we know that EMC2 is worthy of a higher price and are confident that when listed on an exchange with larger volume we will see the price start to climb towards our short term target.
So, please keep voting for us on Cryptorush and Mintpal!
https://cryptorush.in/index.php?p=vote https://www.mintpal.com/voting
We also strongly feel that being listed on both http://coinmarketcap.com/ and http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency would be hugely beneficial in getting the word out about Einsteinium to the wider alt community, therefore, if you are member of any of their required exchanges please hit them up and request that they list EMC2/BTC.
Down To Business We are growing the team!
We would like to welcome on board the first member of the community to join the Einsteinium Team; Kreativekrypto
We will be reaching out over the next 24 hours to one or two other members on this thread to enquire if they would like to get more deeply involved – keep an eye on you PM inbox Smiley
Android Wallet We have an Android wallet in progress for Einsteinium, it’s not far off so we’ll keep you posted on the progress.
Press Recognition We are reaching out to a number of blogs and traditional media in an effort to raise awareness of Einsteinium, Crypto blogs are an obvious first port of call and hopefully you’ll be seeing the Press & Article section of the OP start to fill up nicely. We are not stopping there though, we are casting the net further afield and contacting science and technology media as well. If anyone has a direct line to a blogger or journalist please point them here and the foundation website and have them reach out to [email protected] – it’s not what you know it’s who you know!
Reddit and Twitter Kreativekrypto will be leading our Reddit and Twitter initiatives. With the team still currently low on numbers we’ll be starting off with moderate sized competitions, but expect them to grow over time.
The Funds There is a very interesting concept we are testing internally with regards to the Einsteinium Foundation Fund. If it pans out as we hope you’ll all be the first to know Cheesy
We NEED Your Feedback
As you will no doubt be aware because of the block halving the collection for the coin promotion fund is weighted towards the first 3 years of mining. However, we have been working with figures that spread the promotion fund equally over the first 10 years of the coins life. That gives us a little under 7000 EMC2 each Epoch to spend on promotions and give-aways.
Now, that puts us in a quandary, there is ECM2 in the pot to achieve certain goals in the very short term, purchase 'votes' to get on cryptorush or Mintpal, pay for advertising and hire marketers. However that would leave the promotion fund much shorter in numbers of EMC2 in years to come, for example it would take around 250,000 ECM2 to buy sufficient ‘votes’ to get us listed on Cryptorush, a site we are confident that we will be listed on organically over time. Of course the counter-point to this argument is that in years to come the value of EMC2 will be significantly higher.
So we open it up to the community. Do we spent now or ensure that there are promotion funds for many years to come?
Thank You. The Einsteinium Team
Ore-Mine Faucet Game Review
 Faucet Exchange
Ore-Mine.com is an interesting concept that looks overwhelming but is actually rather simple. It is a faucet that works while you are away, but you will still need to check-in on it at least 1 time every 40 hours to collect the earnings generated every 8 hours. So let it tick over and earn for you, or get busy and promote, buy or gamble for upgrades that will increase your rate of return or add to your total bitcoin balance.
Below is a basic review and breakdown type guide. If you have even more experience and information on how features work, please share in the comments.
View the image gallery of screenshots at the bottom of the post.
Faucet Feature There is a timer that counts down 8 hours and then you will have 1 of 5 production spaces filled on each production line. There are 2 production lines, “Daily Bonus” and “Store”. If they are plain gray then there is nothing to collect. If there is an icon in there, then you can collect it by clicking on it.
Daily Bonus As the name suggests, it is a bonus. So after 8 hours you will receive a question mark “?”. When you click the question mark image you may receive a reward. You may receive Ore which will add to your BTC or a Coin which will add to your BTC balance or a Pick which will add to your Production. slot_question Ore Mine Ore Ore Mine Gold Ore Mine Pick
Store After 8 hours it will fill 1 square with an icon that will provide you with a reward. The reward value will be calculated on your “Referrals” and “Production” values.
Referrals If you like this system and want to share it, then make sure you use your referral link. Referring people will add to your mines production statistics and improve rewards. To find your referral link, click on “Referrals” in top right. The referral page has your “Partners Link” and your earnings from the people who have come in with your link. Your link will look something like the following, but you will have your own unique number on the end.
http://ore-mine.org/?r=80529
At the time of writing “Every active referred user will bring you 6% affiliate reward and +1 to the number of referrals. Invite your friends to Ore-Mine game and you will have more ore. Special offer: +1 production per user for the first 20 new users referred.”
Production This is where you can pay to speed things up. You can buy Production that will increase the reward value at the end of each 8 hour cycle. Purchasing Level 3 will also increase what you earn from your referrals too. The referral increase would be very handy if you have built up a number of people below you who have high production.
Deposit & Withdraw You can deposit existing bitcoins if you want to purchase upgrades or use the casino game. They display credit card logos that link to a page that provides details and a website, HowToBuyBitcoins.info, that maybe able to help you purchase bitcoins in your country and then deposit them on the site.
The withdraw feature look reasonably standard with added password check which might slow down any opportunists that might be on your PC. There is a withdrawal fee of 0.0005 BTC which is basically your minimum withdrawal amount.
Casino Game When logged into the Ore-Min you will see a link “Win The Jackpot” in the bottom left. Here you can gamble your funds on the mini game. You can select different “Lands” which will cost more to reveal, but the cost is relative to the prize. You will be hunting for crystals that if found, will multiply the amount you spent to open that square. It is gambling, and there is no guarantee you will get a return. They do not share what the odds are for winning.
They also highlight that you will receive 6% of what ever your referrals spend on this game, which is a nice bonus.
So if you like the idea, sign up today for free and make a start!
[ANN][ANC] Launching AnonCoin - Prebuilt Windows binaries. Not PRE-mined. Launch is NOW!
Introducing AnonCoin!
NOT Pre-mined (only ~1000 blocks, but most of it goes to the facuet)
Why?
Because first of all, we don't like the Central banks, and would love to see they lose their monopoly. If you haven't noticed, they aren't so happy about Bitcoin, Litecoin and all other coins out there. And they will try to stop them.
AnonCoin goal is to be used on both darknets like I2P, TOR and others, and internet/clearnet. At current moment it works with SOCKS over I2P/TOR. Native support to I2P should be in place soon. It's a scrypt based coin, forked from Litecoin but still got some nice features from other coins too. Not at least it's own twist of them.
